HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support


This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.  Guidelines state that the student must perform CPR on an adult manikin for at least 2 minutes, whilst on the floor.

This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Course Duration:  14 hours - Pre-course work (6 hours self-paced learning/knowledge

                                    depending on previous knowledge. Workshop duration 8 hours.

Course Content:  Respond to an emergency situation

                                  Apply appropriate first aid procedures

                                  Communicate details of the incident

                                  Review the incident

Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued with a statement of attainment for the unit.
